Highlights on the Kenya Gazette issue dated 8th April 2025

  • President William Ruto appoints one of the members of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers, Joe Ager, Lawrence Muiruri, Jackline Nekesa Makokha, Dr. Irene Cherotich Asienga, Kathurima Hiram Kirimi, Catherine Wameyo, LSK President Faith Odhiambo, and University of Nairobi law lecturer Prof. Kenneth Wyne Mutuma as members of the panel that will select the Chairperson of the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights. The Chairperson’s seat fell vacant after the death of renowned lawyer, Roseline Odhiambo Odede.
  • Pursuant to the Economic Partnership Agreement between Kenya and the European Union, President William Ruto appoints Cabinet Secretaries for Foreign Affairs, Treasury, Agriculture, and Environment to lead the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Council with the EU which council is to be co-chaired by CS for Investments, Trade and Industry.
  • Prof. Isaac Muthure Macharia was appointed by President William Ruto Chancellor of Karatina University for 5 years starting on 11th April 2025.
  • Raymond Komen and Juliet Ngetich were removed from the National Cereals and Produce Board by CS for Agriculture & Livestock Development, Hon. Mutahi Kagwe and vide a separate gazette notice in the same issue were appointed by Musalia Mudavadi, the acting CS Gender, Culture, the Arts & Heritage to the Kenya Cultural Centre Council from 11th April 2025 to 7th  September 2026.
  • Taufiq Salim Mohamed was appointed by Hassan Ali Joho, the CS Mining, Blue Economy & Maritime Affairs, to the Mineral Rights Board for 3 years.
  • CS for education, Migos Ogamba revokes the appointment of some members of the University of Nairobi Council such as Saly Ngeringwony Totoitivh, Ahmed Sheikh Abdullahi, Dr. Parmain Ole Narikae & Carren Kerubo Omwenga but reappoints and redistributes them to the councils of University of Embu, Eldoret, Karatina, and Mama Ngina University.
  • Asteri Angolo was appointed as a member of the National Biosafety Authority for 3 years by CS for education, Migos Ogamba.
  • Beatrice Marisin Soy was appointed to the board of the Geothermal Development Company Ltd by CS for Energy & Petroleum, Hon. Opiyo Wandayi. Eustus Mureithi Maina’s earlier appointment was revoked.
  • A Regulatory Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of a record 39 new draft aviation regulations prepared in the year 2024 covering safety, air navigation, aircraft operations, and environmental concerns. Members of the public to be affected by the regulations are to submit a memorandum within 14 days.
  • The CS Lands, Public Works, Housing & Urban Development appoints members of the Kajiado West Land Control Board for 3 years.
  • The Governor of the Central Bank of Kenya, Kamau Thugge, grants approval for the transfer of some National Bank of Kenya Ltd assets to KCB Bank, with Access Bank PLC to acquire the National Bank fully.
  • Dr. John Simba was appointed as Chairperson of the Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital by Kisii Governor, Simba Arati.
  • 11 members were appointed by Lati Lelelit, the Samburu County Governor to the Samburu County Community Conservancies Fund Board. 
  • The Governor of Mandera County, Hon. Mohamed Adan Khali appoints members of the Takaba Water & Sewerage Company Board in Mandera County with the Chairperson being by Yussuf Maalim Hassan.
  • Judith Wanjiku Kibaki, David Kagai Kibaki & Anthony Githinji Kibaki, being the Children of former President Mwai Kibaki, who are also the administrators of his late Wife’s Estate, give notice of the loss of title for their Plot number CR. 13949 located in Mombasa.
  • Former Bahati MP, Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri, gives notice of the loss of the Land Register in respect of his land known as L.R. No. 21760 within Nakuru County.
  • The Chief Registrar of the Judiciary, Hon. Winfridah Mayaka, gives notice of the suspension of lawyer Mayaka Walter Ondieki from the roll of Advocates for one year.
  • Emily Nyongesa, the Registrar of the Physical Planners Registration Board, publishes a list of registered planners.
  • Former Mbo-i-Kamiti Chairman, aspiring Nyeri Governor, and proprietor of Bantu Africa Resort, Mr. Thuo Mathenge, adds the popular phrase “noo wanguku” to his name. He will now be known as Thuo Mathenge Noo Wanguku.
