The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) Murang’a Chapter has written a strongly-worded letter to Chief Justice Hon. Martha Koome, formally objecting to the transfer of Hon. Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony to the Murang’a High Court.
In a letter dated 24th April 2026, signed by Chapter Chairman Alex Mbue Ndegwa, the Murang’a Bar raises serious concerns about the judge’s conduct and professional performance, issues they say were first documented during her tenure at Kiambu High Court and are now already manifesting at her new station.
The Complaints
Members cite a pattern of misconduct including chronic lateness, frequent unexplained absences, extended lunch breaks, and inordinate delays in delivering rulings and judgments, conduct they describe as falling below the standards expected of a judicial officer.
The Core Grievance
The chapter’s sharpest criticism is directed at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), which they accuse of opting for transfer over accountability, effectively moving the problem from one county to another rather than taking meaningful disciplinary action.
Their Demands
The LSK Murang’a Chapter is calling on the JSC to urgently review the transfer, institute an independent inquiry into the complaints, and take appropriate disciplinary measures.
They close with a stern warning, should the matter go unaddressed, members may boycott the judge’s court sittings entirely.
