Nairobi LSK Branch Elections 2026 – New Council Elected

A congratulatory graphic for the LSK Nairobi Branch Council 2026-2028 titled 'Nairobi at Ten.' The image features professional headshots of the newly elected leadership, including Chairperson-Elect Eric Kakemu Kivuva, Vice Chairperson-Elect Akello Wilberforce Odhiambo, and Council Members Kirui IvySharon Chepngeno, Netia Faith Opisa, Otago Annet Akoth, Dindi Virginia Adikinyi, Chege David Mwangi, and Davis Too. It also includes In-House Representative Mukenya Edith Nekesa and Kiambu County Representative Gacheru Philip Mutavi.

The Law Society of Kenya’s Nairobi Branch — the largest of the Law Society of Kenya 8 branches — held its elections on Friday, 8th May 2026. The Branch represents approximately 15,000 advocates practicing across Nairobi and Kiambu Counties.

In a sign of the times, the elections were conducted entirely digitally, with members voting from their phones and computers — a contrast to the national LSK elections which are still conducted physically

 The New Council

  • Chairperson – Eric Kakemu Kivuva (Re-elected Unopposed)
In a perhaps surprising outcome, the incumbent Chairman was returned unopposed. Eric Kakemu Kivuva is a Partner at McKay Advocates. Before co-founding the firm, he served as Group Legal Counsel at Standard Media Group and earlier as a Programs Officer at the Centre for Governance and Development. He holds an LLB from the University of Nairobi.
  • Vice Chairperson – Wilberforce Akello Odhiambo
Wilberforce Akello is the principal of Wilberforce Akello & Company Advocates. He holds both an LLB and a Master’s Degree from the University of Nairobi. A renowned litigator with an outspoken voice on matters of good governance, he cut his teeth at Robson Harris & Co. Advocates before establishing his own firm.

A Council to Watch

History shows that the Nairobi Branch Council is a springboard to the highest levels of the legal profession. The current LSK President served as the Branch’s inaugural Chairman. His successor, Helene Namisi, is now a High Court Judge. The current LSK Vice President, Teresia Wavinya Nicholas, also cut her leadership teeth on this very council.

Congratulations to the newly elected council — the legal fraternity watches with great interest!
