1. Judge of Court of Appeal with fifteen (15) posts
– Duties and Responsibilities: Adjudicate appeals, interpret and apply the law, deliver well-reasoned judgments, supervise lower courts, and ensure justice is administered fairly and efficiently.
– Experience Needed: At least ten (10) years as a Superior Court Judge or fifteen (15) years as an advocate with substantial experience in appellate work.
2. Judge of the High Court with twenty (20) posts
– Duties and Responsibilities: Preside over high court cases, hear and determine civil and criminal matters, issue rulings and judgments, and uphold the Constitution and legal standards.
– Experience Needed: At least ten (10) years as a judge in a subordinate court or ten (10) years as an advocate with relevant high court practice.
3. Judge of the Environment and Land Court with ten (10) posts
– Duties and Responsibilities: Adjudicate disputes related to environment and land, enforce environmental laws, resolve land ownership conflicts, and promote sustainable land use practices.
– Experience Needed: At least ten (10) years as a judge or advocate with specialized experience in environmental or land law.
4. Resident Magistrate with sixty (60) posts
– Duties and Responsibilities: Handle magistrate-level cases, conduct trials, issue warrants and orders, maintain court records, and ensure timely disposal of cases.
– Experience Needed: At least five (5) years as an advocate or judicial officer with experience in magistrate-level proceedings.
5. Resident Kadhi with five (5) posts
– Duties and Responsibilities: Adjudicate Muslim personal law matters, perform marriage and inheritance proceedings, provide legal guidance, and uphold Islamic judicial principles.
– Experience Needed: At least five (5) years as a Kadhi or advocate with expertise in Islamic law and personal law matters.
6. Resident Magistrate/Adjudicator Small Claims Court with forty (40) posts
– Duties and Responsibilities: Resolve small claims disputes, conduct hearings, deliver quick and fair judgments, and promote access to justice for minor legal issues.
– Experience Needed: At least three (3) years as an advocate or judicial officer with experience in small claims or civil dispute resolution.
