The Chief Justice, Martha Koome, appointed six magistrates to preside over corruption and economic crime cases in their respective court stations. The appointed magistrates are Maureen Iberia, Victoria Achieng Ochanda, Janette Wandla Nyamu, Wilson Kipchumba Kittur, Christabel Henne Agutu, and Japheth Cherutyot Bii.
The Chief Justice appointed fifty-eight magistrates to handle disputes related to Environment and Land law in their current and future court stations.
One hundred and forty-four magistrates were appointed to handle specific employment and labour relations cases. Their authority includes employment contract disputes where the employees gross monthly pay does not exceed 80,000 Kenya Shillings and criminal offences under various labour laws.
New sub registries for the Employment and Labour Relations Court were established in Kajiado, Narok, Busia, and Embu counties to bring services closer to the people.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission issued rules for handling pre-election disputes related to the by elections scheduled for 27th November 2025. Nomination disputes must be resolved within 10 days and in any case not later than 21st October 2025. Disputes can be filed physically at Anniversary Towers or via email.
The Governor of Nandi County appointed a five-member panel, including Dr. Anne Maiyo and CPA Prisca Chepkemoi Misoi Boen, to recruit nominees for the Nandi County Public Service Board.
The Governor of Meru County, with the county assembly’s approval, appointed a six-member Public Service Board, led by Benjamin Muketha as Chairperson, for a six-year term.
Two new members, Halima Abdullahi Wako and Idris Omar Dube, were appointed to the Board of Directors of the Tana Water and Sanitation Company Limited, representing the Ilwana and Orma communities.
The High Court and courts of equal status will be on Christmas recess from 21st December 2025 to 13th January 2026. During this period, Recess Duty Judges will be appointed to handle urgent matters.
Numerous notices were published regarding the issuance of provisional certificates, replacement titles, and new title deeds for over 100 properties across the country where the original documents were reported lost or destroyed. Owners have a 60-day objection period.
Several notices were issued to cancel existing land titles and register new owners based on court orders from succession cases where owners had died and other land disputes. For example, a title for a parcel in Taita Taveta was ordered to be cancelled from Joseph Macharia Ngatia and given to Daniel N. Muthioi.
The National Land Commission announced the government’s intention to acquire private land for several public projects including the Globe Roundabout Transport Terminal in Nairobi, the Upgrading of Embakasi Slip Road in Nairobi, the South Lokichar Basin Oil Project in Turkana, the Expansion of Itugururu Airstrip in Tharaka Nithi, and the Isiolo Kulamawe Road in Meru and Isiolo counties. Public inquiries for compensation claims will be held for some of these projects.
The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority announced new charges for electricity bills in October 2025. The Fuel Energy Cost Charge increased by 369 cents per kWh. The Foreign Exchange Fluctuation Adjustment increased by 153.82 cents per kWh. The Water Resource Management Levy increased by 1.24 cents per kWh.
The Disciplinary Tribunal suspended three advocates from practicing law. Robert Maina Gikandi was suspended for 36 months. Kenneth Begi Onkoba was suspended for 36 months. James Chepkojwo Chebet was suspended for 24 months.
The Nandi County Government has published a new draft land valuation roll, which will be used to calculate land rates. Property owners can inspect the draft and file objections upon paying a 10,000 Kenya Shilling fee per property until 4th December 2025.
Two new political parties have applied for provisional registration. The Freedom and Opportunity Party has a Compass as its symbol. The Prosperity Alliance Party has a Switch as its symbol.
The Kenya Patriots Party intends to change its officials. Agnes Kagure Karinki is the new Party Leader and Dick Kamau is the new Secretary General.
The Agriculture and Food Authority proposes to grant manufacturing licenses to Mama Millers Limited to process palm oil and sunflower in Thika and to Highland Orchards Limited to process macadamia nuts in Ruiru.
Eslon Plastics of Kenya Limited has been placed under receivership. Joy Vipinchandra Bhatt has been appointed as the Receiver and Manager, meaning he now has full control over the company’s assets and operations.
The National Environment Management Authority has received Environmental Impact Assessment reports for several proposed projects and is inviting public comments within 30 days. The projects include a 16-storey residential apartment in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, a 22-storey residential apartment in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, a 5-block residential development in Syokimau, Machakos, a 12MW power plant in Kilifi, and a new sugar factory in Siaya County.
Several magistrate courts in Kibera, Iten, and Siakago announced their intention to destroy old court records from cases between 2014 and 2021. Anyone with a claim to exhibits in these cases must come forward within three months.
Several companies and auctioneers gave notice that they will sell uncollected vehicles and motorcycles to recover storage costs if the owners do not collect them within 30 days.
