A notice from the National Police Service, dated June 9, 2025, has labeled Officer Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki alias Samidoh of the Anti-Stock Theft Unit as a deserter. The officer received approval for time off and was expected to resume work on May 27, 2025. However, he did not return, and his whereabouts remain unknown despite efforts to locate him.
Authorities report that Muchoki has been absent without permission for over 10 days, a situation that led to his official declaration as a deserter effective June 6, 2025. The decision came after repeated attempts to trace him proved unsuccessful. His salary has now stopped, and local leaders in Nyandarua West are taking steps to address the matter.
The police command has directed the Stockpol MTD Company to take action on this issue and ensure that proper measures are implemented. Additionally, the Nairobi office will include Muchoki’s name in the next National Police Gazette for wider circulation. Local chief Susan Nyambura and her assistant Henry Murage are tasked with visiting his home to investigate further.
For now, the focus remains on understanding why he has not returned to his post.
