German child molester nabbed

Thomas Scheller was arrested on May 5th 2020 trying to enter the German embassy to flee the police dragnet that was laid for him.

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations had trailed him from Kwale to Kisumu then back t Nairobi. To the police, he was already known as a pedophiliac and they needed a few more evidence to take him down.

DCI reported their catch the next day on 6th May: “Detectives from DCI Child Protection Unit on 4th May 2020 acting on intelligence arrested one German national namely Thomas Scheller and rescued one minor aged 14 years at riverside drive 113 near Germany Embassy. The 71-year-old suspect led the officers to Sammarays guest house in Ngara where he has been lodging with the minor since their arrival from Kisumu on 30th April 2020 despite the lockdown in Nairobi. The suspect was produced at Milimani Law courts through miscellaneous application on 5th May 2020 and the investigating officers were granted 21 days to conclude the investigation. Child is in safe custody”.

Yesterday, Scheller was charged with being unlawfully in Kenya and with child trafficking.

The case which is set for mention in June will hear more on Scheller’s crimes, where the charge sheet reads, ‘“On diverse dates between the months of March and April at Nyalenda in Kisumu, he unlawfully and intentionally exposed a child aged 13 years to an indecent audiovisual”

It is alleged that he intentionally and unlawfully recruited, transported and harboured a 13-year-old child for purposes of exploitation by means of fraud.

He was charged with three counts of defiling three minors, the youngest being 10, by sodomising them. He was also charged alternatively with committing an indecent act with a minor.

The German citizen denied the charges before principal magistrate Muthoni Nzibe. He claimed he was being framed.
